HPL Panels

Processing HPL

The sheets should be sawn with a circular saw, preferably on a fixed saw table. Use a saw blade with fine teeth. Never saw multiple sheets on top of each other. Shifting the sheets may result in sawing errors. A fixed saw table with a circular saw is recommended to achieve the best sawing result.

When making a cut in the HPL sheet, use a jigsaw. Use a steel saw blade with a medium tooth size. Make sure that the visible side of the HPL sheet is facing down when sawing.

Use a circular saw with fine teeth to saw the sheets. To attach the sheets to the gable, wall or fascia, use a screwdriver and sturdy fasteners. Stainless steel screws prevent rusting. These stainless steel screws are available from us. Read more about our screws on the page mounting materials.

For orders of 3 sheets or 10 m2 or more, we can saw the HPL sheets to size for you. We will include the sawing costs in the quotation.

Storage of HPL

HPL panels should be stored flat, in a dry and frost-free environment. It is important that the (pallets of) panels are placed on a flat surface. If possible, cover the sheets with cardboard for extra protection.

Cleaning of HPL

HPL has a smooth and non-porous surface that can be cleaned quickly and easily. This makes the material relatively easy to maintain. Superficial dirt is best removed with a soft, damp cloth. Stains that are more stubborn can be removed with a soapy water or mild (non-abrasive) detergent. Do not use scouring pads. They leave scratches and make the material dull. Do not use furniture polishes or agents containing wax. These leave a film on the surface which makes it easier to discolour or stain.

Product characteristics of HPL

HPL is the abbreviation for High Pressure Laminate, also called laminate or plastic sheet. HPL is made of paper pulp and phenolic resin to which a hard transparent melamine resin top layer is added. The tough and elastic phenolic core makes HPL particularly impact-resistant, while the hard synthetic resin provides great scratch and wear resistance. The material is also highly resistant to chemicals and heat.

Our HPL exterior panels have been developed for outdoor applications and are therefore highly UV and weather resistant. Due to the strong material, there is no weathering or deterioration caused by moisture, mould or wood rot. In addition, the sheets hardly discolour under the influence of UV radiation. Thus, they retain their colour fastness for years. An additional advantage is that you do not have to paint over them.

Applications of HPL

HPL sheets are widely used as a building material for various indoor and outdoor projects. Due to its special product properties, the material is particularly suitable for the construction or renovation of, for example, facades, roof edges, fascias, dormers and garage boxes. HPL is also used in houses, for example as wall covering or in damp interiors such as sanitary rooms.
