All you need to know about HPL 14 mm

High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is also known as laminate or plastic sheet. HPL is made from layers of paper and a resin, topped with a hard, transparent layer of melamine resin. The tough and elastic core makes HPL highly impact-resistant, while the hard synthetic resin provides excellent scratch and wear resistance. The material is also resistant to chemicals and heat.

Phenol is a harmful substance for the environment and for the people who work with it. Yet some HPL products still use phenolic resin in the production process. The HPL panels from 2eKeus.nl, however, are 100% phenol-free. Instead of harmful substances, the production of our HPL uses environmentally friendly thermosetting resins. Better for the environment and for the people in the factory!

HPL panels can easily be cut to size. Use a circular saw for this, preferably on a stationary saw table. Choose a saw blade with fine teeth. It is important to cut the panels one at a time. If you stack multiple panels, they may shift, resulting in cutting errors. Want to cut an opening out of an HPL panel? Then use a jigsaw with a steel blade and medium tooth size. Make sure the panel is positioned with the visible side facing down while cutting.

You will not be very busy maintaining HPL. Due to the smooth surface, dirt does not get into the material and you can easily clean the panels. It is best to remove surface dirt with a soft cloth and a little water. Did a stubborn stain appear anyway? Then use a soft cloth in combination with a mild (non-abrasive) cleaning agent. Do not use scouring pads. The small scratches they cause make the material dull in colour. Do not use products that contain wax, such as furniture polishes. The layer of wax that remains may discolour or stain the material.
